Periodontal Treatment

PERIODONTAL DISEASE CAN LEAD TO MORE THAN JUST AN UNSIGHTLY SMILE – IT CAN CAUSE LOSS OF TEETH AND, IF LEFT UNTREATED, SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS. IF CAUGHT EARLY, WE CAN HELP YOU REVERSE THE DAMAGE OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE. IF DETECTED LATE, WE CAN USE PERIODONTAL TREATMENT FOLLOWED BY MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES TO RESTORE YOUR MOUTH TO A HEALTHY, BEAUTIFUL STATE. PERIODONTAL TREATMENT WILL VARY BASED ON THE SEVERITY. HOWEVER, ALL TREATMENT PLANS WILL REQUIRE KEEPING UP WITH GOOD ORAL HYGIENE AT HOME AND REGULAR VISITS WITH YOUR DENTIST.

What is Periodontal (Gum) Disease?

Our mouths are naturally full of bacteria.  However, when proper oral hygiene and professional cleanings are neglected, this bacteria builds up in the form of plaque and tarter on our teeth.  The longer they stay on teeth, the more harmful they become.  Eventually, the gums will start to pull away from the teeth and create spaces that become infected.  Your immune system will naturally try to fight off the infection, breaking down bone and connective tissue that hold your teeth in place.  Left untreated, your teeth’s supporting structures are destroyed.

Why Periodontal Treatment Is Vital To Your Health

Gum disease can negatively effect the health of your entire body and may increase your risk of:

 Weakened immune system

Diabetes

Stroke

Lung Disease

Pre-term, low-birth babies

Respiratory Disease

Osteoporosis

Gastric Ulcer

Additionally, studies have found that heart disease is twice as likely in people with periodontal disease.  The most common strain of bacteria in dental plaque may cause blood clots, increasing the risk of heart attacks and stroke.

OUR GOAL IS TO HELP YOU LOOK AND FEEL YOUR BEST.
